Community Shield set for Cardiff as Arsenal and Man City clash away from Wembley
The 2026 Community Shield will look different this year, with Arsenal and Manchester City set to battle for the trophy at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff rather than Wembley.
The traditional curtain-raiser is usually staged at Wembley, but the national stadium is unavailable due to previously scheduled concerts taking place around the same weekend.
The fixture will be played on Sunday, August 16, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm BST.
The Principality Stadium, which holds around 74,000 spectators, has previously hosted major English football fixtures and provides a neutral venue for the two clubs.
This will also mark the first time since 2006 that the Community Shield has returned to the Cardiff stadium.
For Arsenal, the match provides an early opportunity to build confidence ahead of their Premier League title defence. Manchester City, meanwhile, will be looking to make an early statement against one of their expected title rivals.
Although the Community Shield is often viewed as a glorified pre-season fixture, both Mikel Arteta and Enzo Maresca will be keen to use the clash as valuable preparation for the new campaign.
