Tottenham are reportedly in advanced talks with Liverpool over a potential summer move for Cody Gakpo.

Tottenham are reportedly in “very concrete talks” with Liverpool over a potential summer transfer for Cody Gakpo, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Plettenberg claims Spurs have intensified their pursuit of the 27-year-old Dutch forward and have opened direct discussions with Liverpool regarding a possible deal.

However, sources close to Gakpo have denied that any agreement or personal terms have been reached at this stage.

Despite that, a move to North London remains a serious possibility, with Tottenham keen to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.

Gakpo emerges as a major Spurs target

Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly identified the wide areas as a key position to improve, with Tottenham looking to bring in up to two high-profile wingers.

Spurs are already working on a potential deal for Manchester City winger Savinho, with personal terms said to have been agreed.

Gakpo is now viewed as another major attacking target. Since joining Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, the Dutch international has developed into a versatile forward capable of operating in several attacking positions.

While no deal has been completed, Gakpo is reportedly open to joining Tottenham if the two clubs can agree on a suitable transfer fee.

Liverpool could replace Gakpo

Liverpool’s stance on Gakpo’s future is believed to depend heavily on their own transfer plans. The Reds could consider selling him if the right offer arrives.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool would look to sign two additional wingers if Gakpo leaves.

The Merseyside club are already pursuing attacking reinforcements, with PSG winger Bradley Barcola among their main targets, while Ibrahim Mbaye has also been linked.

If Liverpool can secure replacements, Gakpo’s potential move to Tottenham could become increasingly realistic before the summer window closes.
