Stefan Bajcetic appears to be edging closer to the Liverpool exit door, with former club Celta Vigo making significant progress in their efforts to bring the midfielder back to Spain.
The 21-year-old was once regarded as one of Liverpool’s brightest young prospects, but a series of injury setbacks has seriously disrupted his development. With regular first-team opportunities expected to remain difficult to secure under Andoni Iraola, a return to familiar surroundings could provide Bajcetic with the ideal platform to revive his career.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Celta Vigo are nearing an agreement with Bajcetic over personal terms, while negotiations with Liverpool over his departure continue.
Talks have moved rapidly in recent days. Read Liverpool reports that Bajcetic is now close to returning to Celta, while Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto has also suggested that the transfer is nearing completion.
However, the exact structure of the deal remains an important factor. This Is Anfield reports that Celta have considered bringing Bajcetic back on the condition that the final year of his Liverpool contract is terminated.
The midfielder has also recently undergone medical examinations in Finland following his ongoing hamstring issues. Despite his injury history, reports indicate that he is now fit and determined to get back to playing regular football.
Bajcetic’s potential departure would undoubtedly be disappointing given the immense promise he showed when he first broke into Liverpool’s senior team.
When fully fit, he demonstrated impressive maturity for his age, combining his ability to win possession with composure and quality when carrying the ball forward. Unfortunately, injuries disrupted his progress just as he appeared ready to establish himself.
Liverpool’s midfield has also undergone major changes since Bajcetic’s breakthrough, leaving him with a difficult route back into the starting XI.
