TOTTENHAM’S NEW DEMBÉLÉ? SPURS COULD HAVE FOUND THEIR FINAL ATTACKING PIECE!
The days of Mousa Dembélé, Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli may be gone, but Roberto De Zerbi appears determined to build a Tottenham squad capable of producing a new golden era.
Spurs have spent heavily this summer, strengthening almost every area of the team. Yet despite the huge investment, the opening two Premier League matches have exposed a worrying problem — Tottenham have failed to score.
Savio and Omar Marmoush have arrived, but De Zerbi still appears short of attacking options. Pedro Porro being pushed into a right-wing role underlined just how thin Spurs’ forward options remain.
And now, Iliman Ndiaye could be the answer.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that a potential Richarlison-Ndiaye swap is being discussed, with the Senegal international reportedly giving the green light to a move to Tottenham.
A deal worth around £60m has been mentioned.
Ndiaye may not be a prolific 20-goal striker, but goals are not his biggest weapon.
His dribbling is.
The Everton star completed 70 dribbles across Europe’s top five leagues last season, putting him alongside some of the continent’s most dangerous ball carriers.
And that is exactly what Tottenham have been missing since Son’s departure.
A player who can receive the ball, turn, drive through midfield and take on defenders.
That is where the Mousa Dembélé comparisons become interesting.
Ndiaye is not Dembélé and plays a different role, but his ability to carry the ball through pressure could give Spurs supporters a glimpse of that old Tottenham magic.
£60m. Elite dribbling. Player reportedly says YES.
Could Ndiaye be the final piece of De Zerbi’s Tottenham revolution?
