STEFAN BAJCETIC EDGING CLOSER TO PERMANENT LIVERPOOL EXIT AS CELTA VIGO TALKS REACH FINAL STAGES
Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic appears to be closing in on a permanent departure from Anfield before the summer transfer window shuts.
The 21-year-old has recently been linked with a return to Spain, with Getafe previously showing interest. However, his former club Celta Vigo have now emerged as the leading contenders to secure his signature after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the player.
According to Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor, negotiations between Liverpool and Celta Vigo are now in the final stages. The Reds are expected to include a sell-on clause in the agreement, with the deal likely to be completed before the transfer deadline.
Bajcetic’s potential move would see him return to the club where he began his football journey and could provide him with the opportunity to rebuild his career closer to home.
The Spanish midfielder enjoyed a highly promising breakthrough at Liverpool during the 2022/23 campaign. He impressed supporters with his mature performances and produced some memorable displays, including a standout showing in the Merseyside derby. He also featured prominently in a Champions League clash against Real Madrid.
However, injuries soon disrupted his progress. Bajcetic managed only a handful of appearances in the following season, while later loan spells at Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas also failed to give him the consistency he needed.
With Liverpool’s squad evolving and Bajcetic missing much of the recent action, it became increasingly difficult for him to force his way back into the team’s plans.
A permanent return to Celta Vigo could now offer the midfielder a fresh start and the chance to rediscover the form that once made him one of Liverpool’s most exciting young talents.
For Liverpool, his departure could bring an end to a frustrating story of unrealised potential. Bajcetic showed enormous promise during his early days at Anfield, but persistent fitness problems prevented him from building on that breakthrough.
