Liverpool have reportedly made significant progress in their pursuit of AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with the Senegal international said to have agreed personal terms with the Reds.
The 22-year-old became one of the biggest transfer stories on deadline day after his proposed move to Chelsea collapsed at the final stage. Chelsea had reportedly agreed a deal worth around £47 million with Monaco and had also reached an agreement with Camara over a six-year contract. However, Monaco ultimately pulled the plug on the transfer as the club prioritised negotiations involving striker Folarin Balogun and Everton.
With the Chelsea move now off, Liverpool have reportedly stepped forward. Transfer insider Indykaila claims Camara has signed off on a five-year contract with Liverpool, with the player apparently keen on the move.
The report further suggests that Liverpool are targeting January for Camara’s arrival and believe reaching an agreement with Monaco over the transfer fee should not be a major obstacle. However, the claim about personal terms comes from a transfer insider and still requires stronger confirmation from established sources.
Liverpool’s interest in Camara is not new. The midfielder has previously been identified as a potential solution to the club’s need for additional midfield strength. Following the collapse of Chelsea’s move, reports indicated that Liverpool had told both Camara and Monaco to wait, with the Reds potentially prepared to return for him in a future window.
Camara’s arrival would give Liverpool another energetic and technically capable option in midfield. His performances for Monaco and Senegal have made him one of the more highly regarded young midfielders on the market.
For now, though, Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms, but the transfer itself is not yet officially completed. The next major step will be reaching a final agreement with Monaco before the January window opens.
