Tottenham have delivered on Roberto De Zerbi’s demand for a major squad overhaul, giving the manager strong backing during an ambitious summer rebuild.
The North London club spent almost £400 million on roughly 10 new signings, completing their transfer business with the arrivals of Tosin Adarabioyo and Mykhaylo Mudryk from Chelsea. A number of players also departed as part of the squad reshuffle.
With the transfer window now closed, De Zerbi has submitted his 25-man Premier League squad for the 2026/27 campaign, and there are a few notable surprises among those selected and left out.
Richarlison’s absence was hardly unexpected, with the Brazilian reportedly nearing a move to Trabzonspor. He has apparently agreed personal terms and is now waiting for the two clubs to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
The more surprising development was Dejan Kulusevski’s inclusion. De Zerbi had already hinted that the Sweden international could make the squad before the Newcastle match, revealing that the midfielder was progressing well and that he hoped to include him.
Kulusevski has now returned to full training at Hotspur Way after spending more than 15 months on the sidelines. He suffered a ruptured right patella against Crystal Palace in May 2025 and underwent surgery shortly afterwards. Additional complications and setbacks repeatedly delayed his comeback, while the injury also ruled him out of the 2026 World Cup.
Despite the lengthy setback, Kulusevski remained committed to his rehabilitation and his return now appears to be getting closer. Being back on the training pitch after such a long absence represents a significant milestone in itself.
His inclusion has provided a major boost around the club, with Tottenham supporters now increasingly optimistic that the midfielder’s long-awaited return to competitive action could be just around the corner.
