Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has admitted that Richarlison has made it clear “too many times” that he wants to leave the club, raising fresh speculation that the Brazilian forward could depart Spurs despite the closure of the English transfer window.
Speaking after Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, De Zerbi suggested that Richarlison’s future in North London remains uncertain.
The 29-year-old then appeared to take matters into his own hands on Monday, posting a strongly worded statement on Instagram in which he insisted that nobody would decide his future for him again.
Richarlison revealed that he had endured difficult experiences in recent years, claiming that many of his problems came from decisions made by others.
He said he had faced pressure, threats and retaliation but insisted that none of those things frightened him, adding that he had already experienced far worse.
The forward also stressed that he had always been willing to leave Spurs only if the move benefited the club as well. He pointed out that he had previously remained at Tottenham during difficult periods because the team needed him and said he had continued to give everything for the club.
Richarlison now wants Tottenham to show the same respect toward him, insisting that he should have the final say over his next move.
Although the Premier League window has closed, several overseas transfer markets remain open. Turkish side Trabzonspor have reportedly been linked with a move for Richarlison ahead of Friday’s deadline in Turkey.
The Brazilian has endured a difficult spell since joining Tottenham four years ago, struggling to consistently establish himself as a key player.
Despite those difficulties, Richarlison scored 12 goals during the 2025/26 campaign as Spurs narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League.
