Richarlison’s Everton Return Could Be Back On After Tottenham Twist
Richarlison’s potential return to Everton may have fallen apart during the final days of the transfer window, but the possibility of a reunion at Goodison Park has not completely disappeared.
The Brazilian forward had been linked with a move back to his former club, with Tottenham reportedly allowing him to discuss a possible transfer. Everton were believed to be considering a deal worth around £35 million, and the prospect of seeing the popular striker return generated plenty of excitement among supporters.
However, the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement before the transfer window closed. It initially appeared that Richarlison would remain at Tottenham and try to work his way back into Roberto De Zerbi’s plans.
Instead, his situation has become considerably more difficult.
Tottenham have reportedly excluded the 29-year-old from their 25-man Premier League squad for the first half of the campaign. Unless an applicable exemption comes into play, he will not be available for Premier League selection until the registration lists can be changed in January.
The decision is particularly surprising considering Richarlison finished last season as Tottenham’s top scorer, contributing 12 goals.
Despite that record, his future at the club now looks increasingly uncertain. De Zerbi has also stated that Tottenham previously offered Richarlison a new contract, but the forward turned it down because he had already made his desire to leave the club known.
That development suggests that Richarlison’s situation is about more than simply competing for a starting position. The Brazilian appears determined to move on and begin a new chapter elsewhere.
Could Everton Try Again?
Everton supporters could now have renewed reason to believe a reunion is possible.
The Toffees were actively exploring a deal for Richarlison shortly before the transfer window closed. Although those negotiations ultimately failed, circumstances have changed considerably since then.
Richarlison wants to leave Tottenham, while Spurs have now left him outside their Premier League squad. Everton, meanwhile, have already shown that they were prepared to consider bringing their former star back.
That does not mean another transfer is about to happen, particularly with the window now closed. Everton also have their own squad issues to deal with after a chaotic end to the transfer period.
Nevertheless, football can change rapidly. A transfer that appears unlikely at one point can become realistic several weeks or months later.
Tottenham’s Difficult Situation
There has even been speculation that Tottenham could consider ending Richarlison’s contract if they fail to find another solution.
That possibility has not been confirmed, but the emergence of such reports demonstrates how complicated the situation has become.
Tottenham now have a high-profile player who cannot participate in Premier League matches, while Richarlison faces the prospect of spending months without regular competitive football.
For Everton, however, the circumstances could eventually create an opportunity.
Richarlison remains a very popular figure among Everton supporters after becoming a fan favourite during his previous spell on Merseyside. A return to the club would undoubtedly create significant excitement.
The Door Could Still Reopen
Although Everton’s immediate attempt to bring Richarlison back failed, the story may not be over.
His future at Tottenham currently looks increasingly uncertain, and Everton have already demonstrated an interest in re-signing him.
The January transfer window could therefore become an important period in determining what happens next.
There is no guarantee that Everton will return to negotiations, but with Richarlison seemingly eager for a fresh start and Tottenham facing an increasingly difficult situation, another move cannot be ruled out.
For now, Richarlison remains a Tottenham player. But if his current situation continues, he could once again become the subject of a major transfer saga—and Everton fans will certainly be keeping a close eye on developments.
The first reunion attempt failed. The big question now is whether the door could open again.
