Spurs Fans Lose Patience With ‘Useless’ Star After Dismal Forest Display

Spurs Fans Turn on Mathys Tel After Another Frustrating Display

Tottenham Hotspur are still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season after being held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest, and supporters have once again directed their frustration toward Mathys Tel.

The match at the City Ground was an intense contest, with Forest coming close to taking all three points in the second half. Neco Williams appeared to have put the hosts ahead after forcing the ball over the line, but VAR ruled that he had used his hand in the build-up, sparing Tottenham from falling behind.

Despite avoiding defeat, Spurs have now gone three league matches without a win and, even more concerningly, have yet to score in the Premier League this season.

Tel was handed another starting role by Roberto De Zerbi, continuing his run in the starting XI. However, the 21-year-old winger once again struggled to make a significant impact.

Playing on the left side of Tottenham’s attack alongside new arrivals Omar Marmoush and Savio, Tel found it difficult to get past Forest defender Ola Aina. His influence was limited throughout the game before he was replaced in the 73rd minute by Mykhailo Mudryk.

His numbers told the story: Tel played 74 minutes, registered no goals or assists, completed just one of five attempted dribbles and won only two of 10 ground duels.

Spurs Supporters Losing Patience

Tel’s latest performance has sparked further criticism from Tottenham supporters, with some now calling for De Zerbi to drop the Frenchman.

One frustrated fan posted: “Can’t believe I’m still watching Tel starting for us in 2026. Enough is enough.”

Another supporter questioned what Tel currently brings to the team, describing him as indecisive and lacking intensity when he has the ball.

Others were even more direct, with one fan saying Tel “needs to be taken off and dropped,” while another simply labelled him “useless” and criticised his passing, finishing and dribbling.

Another supporter admitted: “I have officially lost patience with Tel.”

The pressure on Tel is increasing after he arrived from Bayern Munich for around £30 million with considerable expectations surrounding his potential.

The winger had been regarded as one of Bayern’s promising young talents, but after struggling to secure regular first-team football in Germany, he moved to Tottenham hoping to establish himself in North London.

So far, however, his performances have failed to match the expectations placed on him.

With Mykhailo Mudryk now another option for De Zerbi, Tel could find his position in the starting XI under serious threat if his form doesn’t improve soon.

Tottenham’s next Premier League fixture comes at home against Everton on September 12, and all eyes will be on De Zerbi’s team selection to see whether Tel keeps his place or makes way for Mudryk.
