Liverpool eye Lamine Camara as possible Mac Allister replacement

Liverpool are reportedly keeping a close eye on Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as a potential long-term replacement for Alexis Mac Allister. The Senegal international was considered Liverpool’s preferred option if Mac Allister had left the club during the summer transfer window.

Camara, 22, was on the verge of joining Chelsea for around £47 million, but the deal collapsed dramatically on deadline day after Monaco pulled out of the agreement. Reports say Liverpool subsequently contacted Camara’s camp and Monaco, telling them to “wait” because the Reds could return for him in 2027.

Liverpool did not sign a new midfielder this summer, with Mac Allister remaining at Anfield. However, the Argentine has entered the final two years of his contract, and his future could become a major talking point if a new deal is not agreed.

David Ornstein has also indicated that Camara was Liverpool’s top choice if Mac Allister had departed, suggesting the club’s interest is genuine rather than simply a rumour.

For now, Camara remains at Monaco, but Liverpool could revisit the situation in 2027, potentially making him their next major midfield target.
