Omar Marmoush Opens Up on Tottenham’s Mood After Another Scoreless Draw
Omar Marmoush has shared his take on the atmosphere within Tottenham’s squad following a second consecutive 0-0 result, this time against Everton.
The Manchester City signing has played two games for Spurs so far without finding the net in either, as the team has generally struggled to create and finish chances early this season. Even so, the 27-year-old stays upbeat about the club’s prospects and thinks the squad shouldn’t overthink their finishing.
After the Everton match, manager Roberto De Zerbi hinted the team might be dealing with a psychological hurdle given their scoreless run in the league. Marmoush sees it differently — he points to positive signs in recent performances and says the players just need to stay calm in front of goal.
“Looking at our last game, there were plenty of good moments where we played well,” Marmoush said, via the club’s website. “Once things click properly, the results will follow.”
He referenced a missed chance against Nottingham Forest and other moments where sharper decisions could have produced goals, but stressed that persistence and sticking to fundamentals matter more than anxiety about scoring. “You can’t get too worked up over it — obsessing won’t help. We know we haven’t scored in the league yet, and we’re working to fix that.”
Marmoush backs Tottenham’s quality
Drawing on his experience alongside top players at City, Marmoush is confident Spurs have what it takes to turn things around. He praised the squad’s talent and spoke highly of De Zerbi, while acknowledging the team needs time to gel under a new system.
“We’ve got a fantastic squad full of quality,” he said. “I’m happy to be playing and starting, and I try to take on board everything Roberto asks of me and the team. He’s among the best coaches around — his tactical explanations really open your mind.”
He also praised the warm welcome from teammates and the club, saying it’s eased his transition, and expressed hope for more starts and wins ahead. “We know this takes time — it’s a new chapter, so it won’t all come together instantly. Everyone’s pulling in the same direction, working to improve daily, and the mood in the group is really positive.”
