Porro Tipped to Push for Real Madrid or Barcelona Move as Spurs Set £75m Price Tag
Picking Tottenham’s standout performer this season would spark plenty of argument among fans. Sandro Tonali, reportedly the club’s costliest signing, is an obvious candidate, and Micky van de Ven has drawn praise too. Still, Pedro Porro has a strong case after the impact he has made since arriving in north London. The Spain international has become a key creative outlet, regularly driving Spurs forward from right-back, and his stock rose further after Spain’s World Cup triumph, where he earned a place in the team of the tournament.
Even though he put pen to paper on an improved contract in June, Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke claims Porro has already grown disillusioned with Roberto De Zerbi’s project. Spurs’ poor start has apparently fed that frustration, with the club needing seven Premier League games to land their first league win. At 27, Porro is said to want regular top-level football and a shot at major trophies, and with Champions League qualification far from guaranteed, he is reportedly doubting whether Tottenham can deliver that. Although Spurs ended their trophy drought by winning the Europa League in 2025, their wider struggles continue to raise questions about their ability to keep pace with Europe’s best.
According to the report, Porro would rather look elsewhere than wait for Spurs to return to the elite, and sources suggest he has lost faith in the club’s long-term direction despite recommitting so recently. O’Rourke adds that he would jump at the chance to join Real Madrid or Barcelona if either made a firm approach. Interest from Spain is not new: TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey reported on October 15 that both LaLiga giants were weighing up a move.
Madrid may have good reason to act. Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly failed to live up to expectations at the Bernabeu, while Denzel Dumfries is seen as a back-up option and Federico Valverde has been used at right-back despite being a natural midfielder. Porro’s attacking quality, technique and Premier League experience could make him an appealing solution.
Barcelona are also said to be keeping tabs, though Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Joao Cancelo can all play on the right, which could complicate matters. Even so, Porro’s attacking threat and familiarity with Spanish football might still tempt the Catalans.
For Tottenham, selling would not come cheap. TEAMtalk reports that Spurs would want around £75 million, a figure that would shatter the right-back transfer record. The current mark belongs to Achraf Hakimi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Inter Milan in 2021 for roughly £57 million.
Whether Madrid or Barcelona would meet that valuation is unclear, as both would have to weigh Porro’s quality against the financial outlay. Spurs face a real dilemma: he is an influential figure whose exit would weaken the squad, but interest from two Spanish heavyweights could make him hard to hold onto if he pushes for a move. The coming transfer windows may decide whether he stays part of De Zerbi’s plans or heads to LaLiga.
