Tottenham ready to renew pursuit of Gibbs-White as Forest crisis grows

Morgan Gibbs-White is still on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar after the North London club failed to land him in 2025. That saga turned messy when Nottingham Forest reportedly threatened legal action, and the midfielder eventually signed a new contract at the City Ground. Even so, the 26-year-old could rethink his future if Forest’s struggles continue and a chance to move up a level comes along.

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham have kept tabs on the England international and would make another approach if he became available. Forest have started the season poorly, winning just once in their first nine matches in all competitions. That run has raised fresh doubts over whether Gibbs-White will still be there beyond this campaign.

Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi wants to strengthen his squad further after already spending heavily. Football Insider reported last month that Spurs remain strongly interested, despite Forest’s determination to hold on to one of their key men. Another attacking midfielder is reportedly high on De Zerbi’s list, and Gibbs-White’s creativity, technical quality and versatility make him an appealing fit, especially with questions over James Maddison’s fitness.

Brown believes Tottenham would be at the front of the queue if Gibbs-White decides to leave, possibly next summer. According to him, the club have watched the player closely for a long time, know him well, and see him as an ideal fit for De Zerbi’s style. Brown insists that if it looks like he’s heading out, Spurs will make their move.

The reasons he could leave are clear. Forest have won only once in nine games under Oliver Glasner, who arrived in the summer, and they have slipped down the table. They also endured a tight relegation fight last season, and Brown earlier said on October 27 that continued poor form could push Gibbs-White to consider his options.

At 26, the midfielder is at a key stage of his career and may want to join a side that can regularly challenge for European places. He is believed to have admirers in England and across Europe, so he would not be short of alternatives. For Tottenham, that could be the opening to revive a pursuit that stalled before.
