Glenn Hoddle is confident Tottenham will avoid Premier League relegation after what he called a “titanic” display in their win over Aston Villa on Sunday evening.
First-half goals from Conor Gallagher and Richarlison secured a 2–1 victory at Villa Park, moving Spurs above West Ham United—who were beaten 3–0 by Brentford—and out of the relegation zone.
With three matches remaining, Tottenham now sit one point ahead of their London rivals. Although two of those games are at home—where Spurs haven’t won in the league since early December—Hoddle remains optimistic.
He praised the team’s performance against Villa and believes they can secure positive results against Leeds United and Everton in their remaining fixtures.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Hoddle said he now expects Spurs to survive. He admitted he had doubts before the match, but felt the result was crucial and piled pressure on their rivals—particularly West Ham.
He highlighted the team’s tactical discipline, energy, and overall quality, noting that nearly every player delivered a standout performance. While he pointed to the late goal conceded as the only downside, Hoddle stressed that if Tottenham can show the same intensity at home, they should start picking up the results needed to stay up.
