Pedro Porro has put an end to transfer speculation by signing a new long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur, keeping him at the club until 2031 — with an option to extend a further 12 months.
The Spanish right-back had entered the final two years of his previous deal, drawing interest from several top European clubs including Real Madrid. But according to Fabrizio Romano, De Zerbi shut down any talk of a sale immediately, insisting Porro was untouchable and pushing the club to reward him with an improved contract. The hierarchy backed their manager without hesitation.
The renewal is another signal of intent from De Zerbi, who has quickly made his authority felt following Spurs’ dramatic final-day survival in the 2025/26 season.
“Pedro is a crucial player for us,” De Zerbi said. “He impacts games at both ends of the pitch, brings outstanding technical quality, and his mentality is equally impressive. His intelligence, energy and personality make him essential to this team.”
Porro, clearly delighted, posted a short message to fans on Instagram: “I’m so happy to sign a new contract. I can’t wait to see you next season. Come on you Spurs!”
The 25-year-old has been one of Spurs’ most consistent performers despite a turbulent campaign, making 47 appearances across all competitions. Since joining from Sporting CP for €45 million in 2023, he has contributed 13 goals and 26 assists, and recently made his 150th appearance for the club.
With Robertson and Senesi already through the door as free agent additions, Spurs are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market. Negotiations with Brighton over centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke are ongoing, with Brighton having already rejected two offers and pushing for highly-rated youngster Luka Vuskovic to be included in any deal — a condition Tottenham are resisting. Midfield reinforcement also remains firmly on the agenda.
