Tottenham Hotspur may still sanction a big-name exit before the transfer window shuts, as Roberto De Zerbi eyes another major signing despite the club already spending over £200 million this summer.
Spurs have splashed out on Sandro Tonali (Newcastle), Mateus Fernandes (West Ham), and Jan Paul van Hecke (Brighton) for big fees, while also adding Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dúbravka on free transfers — deals that will still raise the wage bill.
With strong financial backing, Tottenham are expected to keep spending before the deadline, though GIVEMESPORT’s Ben Jacobs suggests one current first-teamer may be sold to help fund further deals.
De Zerbi is reportedly fully committed to Dominic Solanke as his main striker next season, even as Spurs prioritise reinforcements out wide, leaving Richarlison as the forward most likely to leave.
Jacobs says any move for a new out-and-out striker would likely depend on Richarlison’s departure first, adding that Spurs still plan more high-profile signings — particularly on the left wing — as part of a wider rebuild aimed at pushing for Champions League qualification after narrowly avoiding relegation.
Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton for £60 million in 2022 on a five-year deal running to 2027; with just one year left after this campaign, Spurs are keen to avoid losing him for nothing. He’s scored 32 goals in all competitions since arriving but has never nailed down the No.9 role long-term — netting 11 Premier League goals last season, including two in his final four league games — with Solanke still expected to start ahead of him.
Interest is growing elsewhere in Europe: Juventus reportedly see him as a backup option if a move for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta falls through, while Everton have also been linked with a return for their former striker.
Tottenham are also said to have received a formal bid from a Turkish club earlier this month, though the club’s identity, the offer’s value, and Richarlison’s willingness to move remain unclear.
