Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho, with the Brazilian back on their radar after a previous attempt to sign him fell through last summer.
The 22-year-old carries a price tag of roughly £60 million and is said to be keen on the move to North London. Manchester City, though, are expected to hold off sanctioning a sale until they’ve lined up an adequate replacement.
Spurs have long held an interest in Savinho, having tried and failed to get a deal over the line in the last window. That interest has now resurfaced as Roberto De Zerbi continues to reshape his squad for the new season.
Should the move go through, Savinho would become Tottenham’s seventh permanent addition of a busy summer, taking their total outlay to around £237 million, with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes among the standout arrivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
An unconventional path to Manchester City
Savinho’s route to the Premier League has been far from typical. He signed for French club Troyes in 2022 in a club-record deal but never featured competitively for them owing to the City Football Group’s multi-club setup.
He was instead loaned out to PSV before truly announcing himself during a standout 2023-24 season at Girona, where he lit up La Liga with nine goals and ten assists, marking him out as one of the continent’s most promising young wingers.
That form persuaded Manchester City to bring him in for £30 million in 2024. Injuries curbed his game time this season, restricting him to seven Premier League starts, but he still chipped in eight assists and offered glimpses of the talent that made him so highly rated.
Guardiola sings his praises
After Savinho netted his first Premier League goal against Leicester City in December 2024, Pep Guardiola spoke glowingly about the winger’s mindset and drive.
The City boss pointed to Savinho’s readiness to keep attacking defenders even after mistakes, calling him a hugely talented player capable of thriving on either flank. Guardiola also praised his tireless energy and aggressive style, while noting his one-on-one defending still needs refining.
Draws comparisons to Vinicius Junior
Savinho’s blistering pace and dribbling have drawn parallels with Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
His former Girona boss Michel was left especially impressed watching him train, remarking that he hadn’t seen a player so lethal in one-on-one duels since Vinicius first emerged. He went as far as ranking Savinho among La Liga’s standout performers, even alongside more established names.
His finishing is still developing, but Savinho’s flair, pace and directness make him a persistent danger capable of unlocking defences at any moment.
With Tottenham eager to add firepower to their attack, the Brazilian could soon be bringing that threat to North London, should the two clubs find common ground on a fee.
