Tottenham supporters are calling for Thomas Frank to be sacked after Spurs’ 3–2 defeat at Bournemouth, with a strange pre-match moment only deepening their frustration.
Spurs made a bright start as Mathys Tel scored in the fifth minute, but goals from Evanilson and Junior Kroupi turned the game around, putting Bournemouth 2–1 ahead by half-time and ending the Cherries’ 10-match Premier League winless run.
Joao Palhinha equalised late on in the 78th minute, yet Spurs failed to push on for a winner.
Instead, Bournemouth struck in dramatic fashion when Antoine Semenyo — widely expected to be playing his last match before a move to Manchester City — netted a stoppage-time winner in the 95th minute.
The defeat leaves Tottenham languishing in 14th place, with just two wins from their last 10 league games, prompting angry calls from fans for Frank’s dismissal.
Fuel was added to the fire when images emerged of Frank drinking from an Arsenal-branded cup at Dean Court before kick-off, photos that quickly circulated via Getty and PA Images.
How the Spurs boss came to be holding merchandise from their fierce North London rivals remains unclear, though Bournemouth had hosted Arsenal on January 3, with club-branded cups in use.
While some responses were light-hearted, many fans were furious. One supporter said, “I don’t even care that we’re 14th — sack him for this.” Another asked, “How did Thomas Frank even get an Arsenal cup?” Others piled on, adding, “Sack Frank just for the Arsenal cup,” and, “Honestly, get him out for that alone.”
