Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly emerged as one of the two main contenders for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto, with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal also interested in the Portugal international. According to Fabrizio Romano, the race could become a straight battle between Tottenham and Al Hilal if Neto leaves Chelsea before the transfer window closes.
Neto joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2024 for around £54 million, but his position at Stamford Bridge has remained uncertain. Although he has shown his quality, he has struggled to become an undisputed starter, which has fuelled speculation over a possible departure.
For Tottenham, Neto is viewed as an attractive attacking option as new manager Roberto De Zerbi looks to transform Spurs’ forward line. However, Neto is not Tottenham’s first-choice target. Their priority remains Manchester City winger Savinho, while Omar Marmoush is also being considered. Spurs could potentially pursue a deal involving both City players.
Chelsea are reportedly asking around £100 million for Neto, although Romano believes the eventual fee could be lower. Al Hilal have already made contact with the player’s representatives and could pose a serious threat to Tottenham because of their financial strength.
Manchester City had also explored the possibility of signing Neto as a potential replacement if Savinho left the club. However, City reportedly decided against pursuing the Chelsea winger because they were unwilling to meet Chelsea’s £100 million valuation.
Tottenham’s focus is now on adding more pace, creativity and goals to their attack. A successful move for Savinho, Marmoush or Neto could significantly strengthen De Zerbi’s squad.
If Spurs manage to land Savinho and Marmoush, De Zerbi could have an exciting attacking combination involving Savinho, Marmoush and Mohammed Kudus, while Neto would remain another high-profile option if Tottenham decide to pursue him.
In short: Romano’s update suggests Tottenham and Al Hilal are currently the two clubs to watch for Pedro Neto, while Manchester City have stepped away because of Chelsea’s huge valuation. Tottenham, however, remain focused primarily on Savinho, with Marmoush also part of their attacking plans.
