Thomas Frank’s time at Tottenham appears all but over, according to journalist David Ornstein. Speaking on NBC Sports, Ornstein described it as “a matter of when, not if” the 52-year-old coach will leave.
Frustration extends beyond fans, with club leaders and several players reportedly unhappy with the team’s direction and results. While Ornstein stressed that Frank isn’t a poor manager, he may simply not be the right fit for Spurs, leaving little hope of a revival.
In the short term, assistant John Heitinga is expected to take temporary charge for the remainder of the season. The 42-year-old Dutchman, who has played for Ajax, Atletico Madrid, and Everton, has coaching experience at Ajax and under Arne Slot at Liverpool. He joined Frank’s staff on January 15 but may now play a bigger role than initially planned.
Looking ahead, Tottenham are already exploring long-term replacements. Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, and former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino are reportedly under consideration. Pochettino, who reached a Champions League final with Spurs, is open to a Premier League return but would likely wait due to his current US national team commitments. Ex-Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has also been linked but is thought unlikely to take the role.
On the transfer front, Spurs continue to seek attacking reinforcements after missing out on targets like Antoine Semenyo and two Manchester City forwards. Reports suggest a striker capable of covering two positions is close to joining, following Richarlison’s injury. The club is also monitoring a top midfielder on Manchester United’s radar, while Liverpool may bid £90 million for one of Spurs’ key players this summer.
