Liverpool Weighing Third Bid for Minteh as Barcola’s Price Tag Becomes a Sticking Point

Liverpool are continuing to weigh up a third approach for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, with discussions between the two clubs still very much ongoing and the Reds determined to add fresh firepower to their attacking options ahead of the coming window.

According to well-connected journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool’s interest in the Gambian international has not wavered, and the club could return to the negotiating table with a significantly improved offer as talks continue to develop behind the scenes. Brighton, however, are known for driving a hard bargain when it comes to their prized assets, and they reportedly place a considerable valuation on Minteh, meaning Liverpool will likely need to raise their proposal substantially if they want to get a deal over the line before deadline day.

Elsewhere, Liverpool’s long-standing admiration for PSG forward Bradley Barcola shows no signs of fading, with the Frenchman still very much on the club’s radar as a potential attacking reinforcement. That said, PSG’s reported valuation of well over £140million for the winger could prove to be a serious stumbling block, given the financial scale of such a deal and the competition Liverpool would likely face for his signature.

As a result of the gulf between the two potential targets in terms of both price and feasibility, Liverpool are said to be keeping their options open and exploring alternative routes to strengthen their forward line. Minteh, by comparison, is viewed internally as the more realistic and attainable target of the two, offering a blend of pace, directness, and undoubted potential that fits the profile Liverpool are said to be seeking.

Barcola, on the other hand, remains something of a dream scenario for Liverpool fans rather than an imminent reality, with the financial demands attached to any deal for the PSG man making him a much harder target to land in the current market. For now, all eyes remain on how the Minteh negotiations unfold, with Liverpool seemingly prepared to be patient and persistent in their pursuit of the Brighton winger.
