Liverpool’s pursuit of Yankuba Minteh has taken another dramatic turn, with Brighton reportedly setting a price that could force the Reds into a major decision before the transfer window closes.
The 2026/27 Premier League season is already underway, but clubs still have until September 1 to complete their summer business. Liverpool have already added Victor Muñoz, Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araújo, while continuing to work on further attacking reinforcements.
Their interest in PSG winger Bradley Barcola remains active, although PSG are demanding around £145 million — a figure Liverpool have so far been unwilling to match.
Minteh has also emerged as a key target. Liverpool initially offered £50 million for the Brighton winger, but the bid was rejected. A second proposal worth £60 million was also turned down, with Brighton holding firm on their £80 million valuation.
According to reports, Liverpool are reluctant to go as high as £80 million and would prefer to keep their spending on the Gambian international around £65 million.
Minteh, who is contracted to Brighton until 2029, has made 73 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists.
Liverpool are also monitoring PSG youngster Ibrahim Mbaye, with manager Andoni Iraola reportedly keen to bring in at least two more wingers before the deadline.
Transfer reporter Ben Jacobs says Liverpool could make one final push for Minteh, with a bid of around £70 million potentially enough to convince Brighton to sell. However, the Reds may prefer to test the waters with a £65 million offer first.
With Barcola and Minteh both available at significant prices, Liverpool could ultimately decide to sign Barcola plus one additional winger.
Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture is against Nottingham Forest at Anfield on August 29.
