Liverpool’s Ismaïla Sarr Pursuit Takes Another Twist
Liverpool’s search for another attacking option has taken an interesting turn after their pursuit of Yankuba Minteh reportedly stalled over Brighton’s asking price.
The Reds have been exploring several options for the wide positions, with PSG’s Bradley Barcola still regarded as their main priority. However, Liverpool are also considering alternatives, particularly on the right side of the attack following Mohamed Salah’s departure.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have now made an approach for Crystal Palace winger Ismaïla Sarr, with a proposal worth around £50 million reportedly sent to the London club. Sarr is said to be interested in the possibility of moving to Anfield.
Liverpool had previously been pursuing Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, but negotiations have reportedly gone cold. Brighton are believed to be demanding around £80 million, a valuation Liverpool are currently unwilling to meet. As a result, the Reds have begun examining alternative targets.
Sarr has also been the subject of interest from Galatasaray. The Turkish club has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Senegal international, although Crystal Palace have rejected approaches and remain reluctant to let him leave.
Romano previously reported that Sarr was pushing for a move away from Selhurst Park and had been left out of Palace’s squad. However, Palace manager Pierre Sage explained that the decision was related to the player’s fitness rather than purely transfer circumstances.
Sage stated that after consulting with the club doctor and Sarr, the decision was made not to risk him because he was not yet fully fit.
Liverpool’s reported interest therefore adds another layer to Sarr’s uncertain future. While Barcola remains the club’s preferred winger, the Senegal star has emerged as a potential alternative following the complications surrounding Minteh.
There is, however, some conflicting reporting over the situation. While Romano has reported a Liverpool proposal of around £50 million, The Standard reported that Liverpool had only made checks on Sarr and had not yet held formal talks.
For now, Liverpool appear to be keeping their options open as they continue working on their attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
