Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola could be approaching a decisive point, potentially giving Arsenal a major opportunity to enter the race for the Paris Saint-Germain winger.
The Reds have identified Barcola as one of their top options to replace Mohamed Salah, who joined Trabzonspor this summer.
Liverpool have already held talks with PSG, but the French champions’ huge £145 million valuation remains a major stumbling block.
According to The Standard, Liverpool are now prepared to walk away from the deal because they are unwilling to meet PSG’s asking price for the 23-year-old.
Arsenal have been monitoring Barcola throughout the transfer window and could now step up their interest if Liverpool officially end their pursuit.
Barcola has returned to PSG following his extended post-World Cup break and was included in Luis Enrique’s squad for the UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa.
When asked about the winger’s future on August 11, Enrique refused to guarantee that Barcola would remain at PSG beyond the transfer window.
Sky Sports has also confirmed Liverpool’s negotiations and reported that Barcola is attracted by the possibility of moving to Anfield. However, PSG’s £145m asking price continues to prevent an agreement.
