Tottenham’s dressing room has sent a strong message backing Thomas Frank, easing fears over his future.

Tottenham’s players have made it clear they are still fully behind Thomas Frank as head coach.

That’s the view of former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider following Spurs’ 2-2 Premier League draw with Manchester City. Despite being without 11 senior players through injury, Tottenham fought back from two goals down, with Dominic Solanke scoring twice in the second half to earn a point.

The result extended Frank’s unbeaten run to four matches across all competitions, easing some of the pressure on the 52-year-old. Wyness admitted he was impressed by Spurs’ resilience, particularly after initially writing them off at 2-0 down.

The ex-Everton CEO, now a football consultant for elite clubs, believes a push for European qualification would be a satisfactory outcome for Tottenham supporters. Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, he suggested Frank could reasonably point to injuries as a major factor behind their current league position.

“I don’t think they’re out of the European race at all,” Wyness said. “They can still compete for that, and I think Spurs fans would accept it, especially if they can see progress returning. The second-half response against City really surprised me. That comeback showed the players are still fighting for Frank.

“I don’t like leaning on injuries as an excuse, but in this case the list is unusually long. I haven’t seen many clubs hit that hard. It helps explain why they didn’t push further in the transfer window. The Hearts youngster is clearly one for the future, but I don’t expect him to feature heavily just yet.

“As players return, Spurs should be fine. Once the timing of those comebacks becomes clearer, things will start to settle and the noise around the club will die down.”

Looking ahead, Tottenham are already planning for the summer transfer window and have promised to be proactive in strengthening the squad. Sporting director Johan Lange confirmed the club have “big ambitions” for the upcoming window.

During January, Spurs brought in Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, Hearts striker James Wilson on loan, and left-back Souza from Santos.
