“HE WANTS TO STAY” – MAC ALLISTER’S FATHER CONFIRMS LIVERPOOL MIDFIELDER HAS NO PLANS TO LEAVE
Alexis Mac Allister is not looking to leave Liverpool, with his father, Carlos, confirming that the Argentine midfielder remains committed to the club and wants to continue his career at Anfield.
The 27-year-old has attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs during the summer, including Manchester City and Real Madrid. However, despite the growing transfer speculation, those close to the player have made it clear that leaving Liverpool is not currently on his mind.
Liverpool have not yet started discussions over a new contract for Mac Allister, but the midfielder reportedly remains happy with the club and wants to continue working under manager Andoni Iraola.
Mac Allister has no interest in leaving
Speaking about his son’s future, Carlos Mac Allister dismissed rumours suggesting that Alexis could be preparing for a move away from Liverpool.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, he explained that Alexis is not considering an exit and has a strong desire to remain at Anfield.
He also confirmed that Liverpool have yet to begin negotiations over extending his current contract, although the player himself wants to continue at the club.
The comments come as speculation surrounding Manchester City’s interest continues to grow. Reports have suggested that City considered Mac Allister as a potential alternative to Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, while Real Madrid have also kept an eye on the Argentine’s situation.
However, Liverpool have shown no willingness to let him go. Previous reports also indicated that Mac Allister and his representatives had turned down interest from several clubs because of his desire to remain with the Reds.
Liverpool should focus on a new contract
Mac Allister’s commitment will undoubtedly come as encouraging news for Liverpool, but the club may still need to address his contract situation sooner rather than later.
The Argentine remains one of Liverpool’s most talented and technically capable midfielders. Allowing uncertainty over his future to continue could attract even more interest from rival clubs.
With his current contract gradually running down, Liverpool would be wise to open talks over an extension and secure his long-term future.
Although Mac Allister endured some inconsistent moments during the 2025/26 season, his ability and importance to the team remain clear. He is capable of controlling games, performing under pressure and playing effectively in different midfield positions.
Most importantly for Liverpool, he has made it clear that he wants to stay.
That gives the club a strong advantage when negotiations eventually begin. If Andoni Iraola continues to see Mac Allister as a key part of his plans, Liverpool should move quickly to agree on a new deal, put an end to the transfer rumours and secure one of their most valuable midfielders for the future.
