Liverpool are reportedly exploring a late move for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto as uncertainty grows over Cody Gakpo’s future at Anfield.
According to the report, Liverpool have contacted Neto’s representatives to assess whether a deal could be possible before the transfer window closes. The move is being considered because Gakpo is increasingly expected to leave Liverpool for Manchester City, with negotiations reportedly ongoing.
Liverpool are reportedly willing to sanction Gakpo’s departure, but only if they can bring in high-quality attacking reinforcements. Bradley Barcola is also part of Liverpool’s plans, meaning the Reds could potentially look to strengthen their attack with more than one player.

The biggest obstacle could be Chelsea’s valuation of Neto.
Chelsea are reportedly looking for around £100 million or more for the Portuguese winger. That would represent a huge profit on the roughly £54m Chelsea paid Wolverhampton Wanderers for him in 2024.
Neto has reportedly established himself as an important attacking player at Chelsea, with the ability to play on either flank, carry the ball, beat defenders and create chances.
Since joining Chelsea, he has reportedly recorded 20 goals and 19 assists in 106 appearances across all competitions.

Liverpool aren’t the only club interested. Al-Hilal previously pursued Neto and reportedly held discussions over personal terms, but the Saudi club cooled its interest after finding Chelsea’s asking price too high.
The timing is crucial, with the summer transfer window closing on September 1. Liverpool therefore have very little time if they genuinely want to complete a deal.
