Liverpool have reportedly been keeping tabs on Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, and Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that the Reds really did explore a potential deal earlier this summer.
Romano revealed that Liverpool asked about the conditions of a transfer back in July, with Camara’s valuation believed to be around €60m (£51.4m).
However, there has been no major progress between Liverpool and the midfielder in recent weeks.

Romano says Chelsea are currently the club most focused on Camara, with Monaco aware that the Blues’ interest is serious.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are not currently planning to sign another midfielder.
But with the transfer deadline approaching, absolutely nothing can be ruled out.
Camara’s athleticism, defensive ability and energy would make him an intriguing option for Liverpool, particularly after recent concerns about the team’s vulnerability when possession is lost.
The Reds have already checked the conditions of the deal.
