Tottenham Hotspur have officially completed their first piece of business on Deadline Day, with the transfer dominoes now beginning to fall ahead of what is expected to be a hectic finish to the window.
Spurs are anticipated to be among the busiest clubs as an extraordinary summer transfer period draws to a close.
The North London side have already enjoyed a record-breaking window, bringing in high-profile names such as Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio and Omar Marmoush.
However, a move for Iliman Ndiaye collapsed, paving the way for Manchester City to step in, with an official announcement expected later today.
Tottenham are still expected to complete several more deals before the deadline, with Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo reportedly set to arrive from Chelsea, while Kevin Danso is heading to Sunderland.
The first confirmed move of the day, though, involves young defender Kota Takai, who has joined Belgian side Sint-Truidense VV on loan for the remainder of the 2026/27 season after spending part of last campaign on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
In an official statement, Tottenham said:
“Kota Takai has joined Sint-Truidense VV in the Belgian Pro League on loan for the rest of the 2026/27 season.
“The Japan international defender signed from Kawasaki Frontale in the summer of 2025 and spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he made his Bundesliga debut against FC Augsburg on 11 January before going on to make eight appearances.
“An AFC Under-23 Asian Cup winner and a member of Japan’s squad at the 2024 Olympic Games, Kota has also earned four senior international caps.”
Takai’s temporary departure could be the first of several moves involving Tottenham players and new arrivals as Deadline Day gathers pace.
