Sean Dyche has unexpectedly been linked with the managerial position at Tottenham Hotspur, though the club is sticking with head coach Igor Tudor for now.
Tudor has had a nightmare start, losing all four games since his appointment, leaving Spurs just one point clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Their poor form has carried into Europe as well. Tottenham were heavily beaten 5–2 by Atlético Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash on Tuesday night, worsening an already difficult situation. Up next is a challenging away fixture against Liverpool FC, with the risk of dropping into the relegation zone before kickoff.
Dyche, who was sacked by Nottingham Forest just a month ago, is currently out of work following previous spells at Everton FC, Burnley FC, and Watford FC. Reports indicate he is aware of Tottenham’s interest and could step in as the club’s second interim manager this year if a decision is made.
For now, Tudor is set to remain in charge for the trip to Anfield, but another defeat could spell the end of his short stint in North London. If Spurs opt for a change, Dyche is said to be among the top candidates.
Speaking on The Football Boardroom podcast, Dyche recently revealed he has received interest from top-level clubs. While the 54-year-old is satisfied with what he has achieved in his career, he made it clear he is still open to new opportunities and would only step away from management on his own terms.
Despite that, Tottenham’s ongoing struggles may tempt him back into the dugout sooner than expected. The club, who parted ways with Thomas Frank in February, are currently on a six-game losing streak across all competitions — the worst run in their 143-year history.
Following their clash with Liverpool, Spurs face a daunting return leg against Atlético Madrid before hosting Nottingham Forest in what could become a crucial relegation showdown the following weekend.
