Iraola Provides Encouraging Update on Liverpool’s Injured Players
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has offered an update on several players currently sidelined through injury, revealing that Joe Gomez appears to be the closest to making his return to training.
Speaking about the club’s injury situation, Iraola explained that Gomez is expected to rejoin team training next week. Meanwhile, summer signing Giovanni Leoni could also be back working with the squad later this month, potentially during the upcoming international break.
The Liverpool boss suggested that Gomez is currently ahead of the other injured players in his recovery. Leoni is also progressing well and could soon take another important step towards returning to action.
However, the news is less positive for Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike, with both players expected to spend considerably more time on the sidelines. Iraola made it clear that their recoveries will take longer, particularly in Ekitike’s case.
Liverpool have been dealing with several injury problems, and the possible return of Gomez and Leoni would provide a significant boost to Iraola’s squad. Gomez’s return could especially improve the team’s defensive options, while Leoni will be hoping to finally put his injury troubles behind him and begin contributing to the Reds.
The latest update suggests that Liverpool supporters could see Gomez back in training very soon, with Leoni potentially following later in September. Bradley and Ekitike, though, will need to remain patient as they continue their respective recoveries.
Iraola and his coaching staff will be hoping that the gradual return of injured players can strengthen the squad as Liverpool face a demanding period of fixtures in the months ahead.
