Igor Tudor Set to Exit Tottenham Hotspur by Mutual Agreement as 56-Year-Old Emerges as Replacement Option

Tottenham Hotspur and manager Igor Tudor have reportedly agreed to go their separate ways after a disappointing period in charge, according to TEAMtalk.

Tudor stepped in to replace Thomas Frank last month and was expected to remain in charge until the end of the season. However, his tenure began poorly, as he lost his first four matches against Arsenal FC, Fulham FC, Crystal Palace FC, and Atlético Madrid.

Although Spurs managed to secure a draw against Liverpool FC at Anfield and later defeated Atlético Madrid in the return leg, they were still knocked out of the Champions League. Their struggles continued with a heavy 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend, leaving them 17th in the Premier League standings and just one point above the relegation zone.

That loss to Forest appears to have been the breaking point for Tottenham. Following several weeks of internal discussions, the club has decided that a managerial change is necessary. Reports indicate that even before the Liverpool match, Tottenham had begun assessing possible replacements as they aimed to protect their Premier League status, with results under Tudor continuing to decline.

Chief executive Vinai Venkatesham reportedly held the final authority on Tudor’s future, and those talks have now concluded with a decision confirmed. Tudor is also believed to be ready to step aside after receiving the tragic news of his father’s passing shortly after the defeat to Nottingham Forest, with both sides agreeing that parting ways is the best course of action.

As a result, Tottenham will once again search for a manager to lead the team through the remainder of the season. Former AS Monaco FC coach Adi Hütter—often described as a “super coach”—has emerged as a leading candidate.

Meanwhile, former Tottenham defender and ex-Newcastle United FC manager Chris Hughton is also under consideration due to his Premier League experience and familiarity with the club. Other names being discussed include Tim Sherwood and Ryan Mason.

For the long term, the permanent managerial position remains undecided. Former Brighton & Hove Albion FC and Olympique de Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi is believed to be the club’s preferred long-term choice and could be willing to take the job if Tottenham manage to remain in the Premier League. Former manager Mauricio Pochettino is also viewed as a strong option once he completes his duties with the United States national team at the World Cup.

Ultimately, Tottenham’s main focus is survival in the Premier League, as making another wrong managerial decision could leave them with little time to recover.
