Tottenham Hotspur are bracing for another senior exit from behind the scenes, with chief revenue officer Ryan Norys heading to MotoGP.
Norys arrived in north London after stints at Roma and Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers, and will leave after four years. He’s set to become MotoGP’s chief commercial officer, though he reportedly has a lengthy notice period to serve before the move goes through.
His departure is the latest in a run of high-profile exits at the club. The most significant was co-owner and ex-executive chairman Daniel Levy, who left abruptly a year ago after 25 years at Spurs, according to CityAM. Former executive director Donna-Maria Cullen also stepped down after thirty years, while chief football officer Scott Munn left following a restructure.
Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Norys said MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group had confirmed him as chief commercial officer, overseeing the global commercial business across partnerships, sponsorship, licensing, hospitality, marketing and digital. He said he’s joining a leadership team forming under Carmelo and Carlos Ezpeleta González, alongside Denitza Batchvarova, Sameer Pabari and Louise Young. Until then, he said, his focus stays on Spurs, so the proper thank-yous can wait. He added that he’s proud of what the club has achieved, noting commercial revenue is up 51 per cent during his time there, and that he’ll say more about Tottenham when the time comes.
The timing is tricky for Spurs commercially, with front-of-shirt sponsor AIA moving to a training kit deal at the end of the season. South Korean brand Sidiz are also reported to have triggered an early termination clause this month.
MotoGP is now owned by Formula 1’s parent company, Liberty Media, and F1 currently operates a karting circuit inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Norys’s hiring comes amid a major recruitment push since Carlos Ezpeleta became deputy chief executive. Sameer Pabari, formerly of the NFL, Warner Bros Discovery and Manchester United, joins as chief media officer. Louise Young moves over from Formula 1 as chief operating officer, and Denitza Batchvarova arrives from TKO Group Holdings as chief strategy officer.
MotoGP executives told City AM earlier this year that the British Grand Prix remains a key part of their expanding global calendar.
