Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a £10,000 fine and a formal warning by UEFA, while former interim boss Igor Tudor has also been cautioned, following incidents during their Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid.
The game in Spain was already one to forget for Spurs, who found themselves 4-0 down inside just 22 minutes. Goalkeeper Antonín Kinský endured a nightmare outing, being taken off after only 17 minutes due to a series of costly mistakes.
Off the pitch, further issues arose. UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body issued the club a warning for “improper conduct” after five starting players received bookings in the last-16 clash. Spurs were also fined €10,000 (£8,656) for delaying the kick-off, with Tudor personally warned for his role in the incident.
They eventually lost the first leg 5-2 to Diego Simeone’s side. Although Spurs managed a 3-2 win in the return leg eight days later, it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit and reach the quarter-finals. Tudor later left the club, with Roberto De Zerbi stepping in as his replacement.
Now led by De Zerbi on a five-year contract, Tottenham have shifted their attention to Premier League survival. Sitting 18th and just two points from safety, they face a vital clash this Saturday away to already relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers, still searching for their first league win of 2026.
