RB Leipzig Step Up Pursuit of Radu Drăgușin as Exit from Tottenham Looms
RB Leipzig are closing in on a potential deal for Radu Drăgușin, with the defender increasingly likely to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer and make the switch to Germany.
Although his agent, Florin Manea, recently downplayed transfer links—stressing there had been no official talks and that the player remained focused on Spurs’ relegation battle—new reports suggest negotiations may already be taking shape.
Manea had earlier indicated plans to travel to London for discussions with his client. Instead, he is now believed to have been in Germany, where he toured Leipzig’s facilities, held preliminary talks, and attended their clash with Union Berlin—reportedly leaving impressed.
Drăgușin’s campaign has been heavily affected by a serious injury suffered in January 2025, which kept him out for nearly a year before returning in December. Since then, he has struggled for consistent minutes, making only a handful of appearances. Under new manager Roberto De Zerbi—appointed in late March—he has found opportunities even harder to come by, with Kevin Danso often preferred in defence, especially during Cristian Romero’s injury absence.
Despite his limited role, Leipzig remain strongly interested. The Bundesliga side, currently pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification, are targeting defensive reinforcements and have reportedly set aside around €40 million for new additions. Tottenham are said to value Drăgușin at roughly €20 million, making a deal financially realistic.
Importantly, the Romanian defender is believed to be open to the move, viewing it as a chance for a fresh start.
While Manea’s earlier remarks attempted to cool speculation, his recent activities suggest a more active role in advancing the transfer. It may also be a strategic play—highlighting Leipzig’s interest to attract attention from other European clubs, particularly in Italy, where Drăgușin previously played for Juventus, potentially driving up competition for his signature ahead of the summer window.
