Alasdair Gold has clarified whether Tottenham Hotspur can recall any of their loaned-out players as they battle to stay in the Premier League.

Spurs are currently just two points above the drop zone with only four matches remaining, and their situation has been made worse by a growing injury list. Key absentees already include Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, and James Maddison. To make matters worse, Xavi Simons has suffered an ACL injury that is expected to rule him out for the rest of the year.

There are also doubts over Cristian Romero returning before the end of the campaign, while Dominic Solanke is a concern after being forced off against Wolves.

Some fans have suggested recalling young loanees such as Will Lankshear, Mikey Moore, and Luka Vuskovic to provide a boost. However, Gold explains that this is not possible. Under league rules, players sent out on loan are deregistered from their parent club and registered with another team, meaning they cannot return to play until the summer transfer window reopens—except in rare goalkeeper emergencies.

That leaves Spurs unable to call on any loanees for their final four matches.

Following the win over Wolves, Jamie Carragher highlighted how damaging Simons’ injury could be to their survival hopes. He pointed to Maddison as the only player capable of providing the creativity Spurs need, while also questioning where goals will come from given the number of key players unavailable.
