Daniel Farke has played down any early excitement, stressing that Leeds United won’t celebrate until their Premier League safety is fully guaranteed on paper. Still, results elsewhere could confirm their survival even before their trip to face Tottenham Hotspur next Monday.
That fixture in north London remains crucial. A win for Spurs would boost their own survival chances, but if Leeds manage to take points, it could drag Tottenham right back into the relegation fight.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is already bracing for a difficult match, while former Leeds forward Jermaine Beckford has urged his old club to pile more pressure on Spurs.
“We can ruin their season”
Beckford believes Leeds have a real chance to damage Tottenham’s hopes of staying up. Despite Spurs collecting seven points from their last three games to climb out of the bottom three, their position is still far from secure.
Speaking on LUTV, Beckford encouraged Leeds to aim for at least a draw—if not a win—to strengthen their own safety and keep Tottenham under serious pressure.
He said Leeds must focus on getting something from the game, adding that doing so could effectively derail Spurs’ season, as he doubts they’ll pick up many more points. According to him, even a point could be enough to confirm Leeds’ Premier League status.
Revenge still a factor
Even if survival is already sealed before kickoff, Leeds are unlikely to ease off. Farke’s side remain motivated after their earlier defeat to Tottenham at Elland Road—a game many felt they should have won.
That loss has left a sense of unfinished business heading into the rematch, with Leeds keen to make things right.
Meanwhile, West Ham United will be watching closely, hoping Leeds can take points off Spurs and boost their own survival hopes.
As for Tottenham, De Zerbi may hope Leeds relax if their safety is already secured—but there’s little sign that will happen.
