Tottenham find themselves in a considerably better position than they were just a few short weeks ago, with Roberto De Zerbi having successfully revived a squad that had looked utterly devoid of confidence and drive. Spurs are showing real fight once more and, crucially, are now translating that into points on the board.
That said, whether or not Tottenham manage to avoid the drop and keep pace with West Ham, a number of players look set to depart north London when the summer window opens.
ST Randal Kolo Muani
The most clear-cut exit appears to be Randal Kolo Muani, who arrived at Spurs on a late loan deal to bolster a misfiring attack. Despite the team’s ongoing struggles in front of goal and injuries to Dominic Solanke, the Frenchman has done little to stamp his authority on the side. A memorable hat-trick against PSG aside — in a game Spurs ultimately lost — he has rarely looked convincing. Fans have also taken issue with what they see as a lack of urgency and commitment, and with even De Zerbi failing to get a consistent tune out of him, his departure at season’s end looks all but certain.
GK Guglielmo Vicario
Guglielmo Vicario is another who may be heading for the exit door, with Inter Milan reportedly keen on taking him back to Italy. The goalkeeper arrived with a solid reputation built on strong showings at Empoli, but his Spurs career has been patchy, with several costly errors undermining faith in him as the club’s long-term number one. Antonín Kinský seized his opportunity impressively while covering for Vicario’s hernia-related absence, leaving the club potentially ready to part ways with the Italian this summer.
CB Cristian Romero
At centre-back, Romero is emerging as the most likely big-name defender to leave in the summer. With Van de Ven seemingly set to remain following improved form under De Zerbi, focus has turned to Romero’s situation instead. The Argentine skipper has had a tough and inconsistent season. While fans appreciated his public criticism of the club’s leadership earlier in the year, questions persist about both his performances and his role as a leader. A genuinely talented defender, Romero has been the subject of growing transfer talk since last summer, and at 28, he may now feel the moment is right to seek a move elsewhere.
