Arteta lifts the lid on how he spent the night Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions

Mikel Arteta had already revealed his plans for the evening as Arsenal’s title dream came to life following Manchester City’s draw with Bournemouth.

Almost seven years into his tenure at the Emirates, Arteta finally achieved the milestone of guiding Arsenal to Premier League glory. After the Gunners beat Burnley on Monday night, attention shifted to the Vitality Stadium, where City needed all three points to stay in contention.

It was Bournemouth youngster Eli Junior Kroupi who struck what turned out to be the most decisive goal of the entire season, ending Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the title. Although Haaland pulled City level late on, the 1-1 scoreline was not enough for Guardiola’s side to remain in the race.

Arsenal supporters around the globe will have plenty to celebrate, with a Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on 30 May adding further excitement to what is shaping up to be a historic season.

Before City’s match had even begun, Arteta gave a glimpse into how he planned to spend the evening. Speaking after the Burnley victory, he said he considered himself a Bournemouth supporter for the night, fully aware of what the result could mean for his club. He kept his plans modest, saying he intended to watch the game at home with his family, though he admitted he was unsure how long his nerves would allow him to stay glued to the screen. He also joked that the pressures of management were beginning to take a toll on him.

With the title now secured, Arsenal head into their final-day trip to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park with nothing to play for but the trophy presentation itself, which will follow the full-time whistle. Only 2,687 Arsenal supporters will be present at the ground, though the club is expected to organise a trophy parade through London to mark the occasion in grander fashion.
