Liverpool Eye French Forward as Ekitike Injury Forces Transfer Rethink

Liverpool are reportedly considering Randal Kolo Muani as a potential attacking addition, with the French forward emerging as a possible alternative to Hugo Ekitike amid injury worries and uncertainty in the club’s frontline.

Concerns over Ekitike’s fitness — with fears he could miss a significant stretch of the 2026 campaign — have reportedly pushed Liverpool into contingency planning. Rather than pursuing a like-for-like striker replacement, however, the club are said to be prioritising flexibility. The worry is that bringing in a traditional centre-forward could create selection complications once Ekitike returns, so Liverpool are instead said to be targeting someone capable of operating across multiple positions in the front line.

That profile has apparently led them to Kolo Muani, currently on loan at Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain. Italian outlets including Tutto Juve and Calciomercato.it have linked Liverpool with the 26-year-old, with PSG reportedly open to a permanent sale this summer.

Kolo Muani’s time at Spurs has been inconsistent — his goal and assist returns have been modest — though some point to Tottenham’s difficult season as a mitigating factor rather than a reflection of his quality.

Liverpool’s reported interest is understood to be less about signing a marquee striker and more about adding a versatile rotational option to support a longer-term rebuild of their attack. No deal is imminent, but the situation appears to be develop ing.
