João Palhinha has expressed his desire to make his Tottenham Hotspur loan move permanent following a standout season in North London.
The Portuguese midfielder was among Spurs’ most dependable players this season, capping a successful battle against relegation with the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Everton at the weekend.
In post-match comments carried by ESPN, Palhinha made clear he has developed a strong connection with the club and is keen to extend his stay beyond the summer.
“It was a massive day for everyone connected to the club and the supporters,” he said. “We’re delighted because the main target was to keep Tottenham in the Premier League.”
The 30-year-old also spoke warmly about how well he has settled since joining Spurs, highlighting the supporters and the club’s environment as key factors.
“From the moment I arrived, I’ve felt at home,” he added. “The fans, the environment, everything about the club has been fantastic.
“Who wouldn’t want to play for Tottenham and remain here? I have everything I need. Football is a bit like a marriage, though.
“But honestly, I would really love to stay because I’ve enjoyed my time here a lot, even if it has been a difficult season overall.”
Palhinha joined Bayern Munich from Fulham in 2024 for a reported €51 million, but struggled to nail down a regular starting berth in Germany before returning to the Premier League on loan, where he has rediscovered his best form.
