Enrique Riquelme targets Jurgen Klopp as Real Madrid manager in bold election pledge
Real Madrid presidential hopeful Enrique Riquelme has made a high-profile promise ahead of the upcoming election, declaring that he intends to pursue Jurgen Klopp as his preferred choice for the club’s managerial role.
Riquelme, who has already attracted criticism for previously posing with a Real Madrid shirt featuring Erling Haaland’s name, has now turned his attention to the former Liverpool boss as part of his proposed vision for the club.
Klopp has been away from management since leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season and is currently working within the Red Bull football structure. Reports suggest he is not interested in returning to club management at this stage.
Speaking about his plans, Riquelme stated that Klopp is central to his project, adding that if he is elected, club director Raúl would immediately open talks with the German coach.
However, Klopp’s agent has strongly dismissed the speculation, describing the rumours as “annoying” and insisting that Klopp is content in his current role and has no desire to return to coaching at club level. He also stressed that a move to Real Madrid is not under consideration.
Despite ongoing speculation, Klopp’s future remains uncertain, though he is still widely admired for his success at both Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, where he won major trophies including the Premier League and Champions League.
