There’s a scenario in which Liverpool could pull off a blockbuster deal for Michael Olise. It’s unlikely to materialise this summer, but a respected source on X claims the Reds’ prospective new part-owners — a consortium fronted by Amit Bhatia — would be eager to make a marquee signing on the level of the France international or Vinicius Jr. The consortium is understood to have already approached Amazon founder Jeff Bezos about potential investment in the Merseyside club.
Given the nature of investment deals of this scale, it’s highly improbable anything gets finalised in the near term. As one report put it, a deal this size won’t be wrapped up quickly, with several complicated layers for stakeholders to work through. That effectively rules out Olise or Vinicius entering Liverpool’s recruitment thinking before next summer at the earliest.
There’s also a more immediate obstacle: word out of Germany suggests Bayern have no intention of selling the 24-year-old winger this summer at any price. Reports indicate not even a fee in the region of £147 million would be enough to prise Olise away from the Bundesliga champions. The current plan in Munich is reportedly to hand the France international a new contract, though regardless of whether he signs it, next summer is expected to become the real battleground for his signature in a permanent move.
Should things fall into place, Liverpool would have the makings of a genuinely world-class front three — Bradley Barcola, Alexander Isak and Michael Olise, backed by strong competition from Rio Ngumoha, Hugo Ekitike, Victor Munoz and Cody Gakpo. It reads like a pipe dream for now, but that’s the scale of ambition allegedly on the table if the Bhatia consortium’s involvement goes ahead.
A front line with that level of attacking talent would undoubtedly make Liverpool one of the most fearsome offensive sides in world football. That said, there are still plenty of gaps elsewhere in the squad that need addressing before names like Olise or Vinicius become realistic targets. Get things right this summer, though, and hand new manager Andoni Iraola a squad built for his high-intensity approach across the pitch, and this long-shot scenario could eventually become reality.
