Tottenham Hotspur could be about to suffer another transfer heartbreak at the hands of their North London rivals, with Arsenal reportedly entering the race for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.
It was only last summer that Arsenal snatched Eberechi Eze from under Spurs’ noses, with the England international later admitting he had been set to join Tottenham before the Gunners came in with a late offer. Now there are fears history could repeat itself.
Spurs have been linked with Gibbs-White for over a year, with journalist Miguel Delaney recently confirming that Tottenham had revived their interest in the Forest playmaker as Roberto De Zerbi looks to strengthen his squad ahead of his first full season in charge. However, The Sun now reports that Arsenal have identified the 26-year-old as a key target, potentially setting up another fierce crosstown transfer battle.
The Gunners’ interest stems partly from their failure to land Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who is set to stay at Villa Park following the club’s Champions League qualification. Gibbs-White has since emerged as Arsenal’s top alternative as Mikel Arteta seeks greater creativity in his attacking midfield.
Further complicating matters for Spurs, European champions Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be monitoring the situation, adding another powerful suitor to the mix.
With Tottenham set to sit out European football next season, persuading Gibbs-White to choose N17 over Arsenal or PSG will be one of the toughest sells of their summer window.
