Tottenham Hotspur remain among the frontrunners to land Marcus Rashford this summer, with the Manchester United forward’s next move still undecided.
According to reports, Spurs are viewed as the most determined suitor for the England international and could even match his current United salary to lure him to North London before the season kicks off. Manchester United, meanwhile, are said to want the Rashford situation settled before he links back up with the squad for pre-season in early August.
Fenerbahce interest runs into a snag
Turkish outlet Fanatik reported earlier in the week that Fenerbahce had unexpectedly joined the chase for Rashford as part of their push to bolster the attack ahead of next season. The report indicated the Turkish side were gearing up to launch formal talks with United, hoping to strike a quick agreement for the homegrown forward and get ahead of any competing suitors. It was further claimed that Fenerbahce planned to ramp up talks with Rashford himself once discussions with United advanced.
Rashford not keen on Turkish switch
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has since dismissed those claims, stating that Rashford has no intention of moving to Turkey this summer. Romano indicated that the 28-year-old would only weigh up an Old Trafford exit if a serious European heavyweight made a move, adding that no talks with Fenerbahce have taken place.
Romano’s message on X made clear that Rashford has no plans for a Turkey switch and no contact with Fenerbahce, that he’s set to rejoin United for pre-season since new boss Carrick wants him involved, and that a departure remains possible only if a top club submits a bid.
That development looks like good news for Tottenham, who remain very much in contention if they choose to ramp up their pursuit of the United forward in the weeks ahead.
