Manchester United could hijack Liverpool’s pursuit of PSG wonderkid Ibrahim Mbaye, with Michael Carrick’s side reportedly stepping up their interest in the highly rated 18-year-old.
United are looking for another versatile attacker who can provide competition on the right and operate in multiple positions. Mbaye is seen as a strong fit, particularly given his pace, direct style and huge potential.
The teenager has already made 41 senior appearances for PSG and became the club’s youngest-ever starter. He also impressed against United during their recent pre-season meeting.
Reports claim United have opened direct talks with Mbaye’s representatives to discuss his interest in a move to Old Trafford and potential salary demands. He is reportedly valued at around €40m–€50m.
Liverpool had previously shown strong interest in Mbaye, but their pursuit may have cooled after being informed of the overall cost, while the Reds continue to chase Bradley Barcola.
With Mbaye reportedly open to a move to the Premier League and United able to offer Champions League football this season, the Red Devils could now have a major opportunity to beat Liverpool to his signature.
