Liverpool have been handed fresh hope in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola after PSG further strengthened an already stacked attack.
The Reds have been trying to reach an agreement for the 23-year-old throughout the summer, but PSG’s £145 million valuation has made negotiations difficult. However, the situation could now change following the arrivals of Mika Godts, Maghnes Akliouche and Ferran Torres, potentially making regular first-team opportunities harder to come by for Barcola.
Liverpool ready to make another move
According to reports, Liverpool are expected to return with another offer after PSG completed the signing of Godts from Ajax. The Belgian winger has agreed a five-year contract in a deal that could reportedly reach £47 million.
Barcola is believed to be interested in a move to Anfield, while PSG’s growing attacking options could make his departure more realistic. He was also left on the bench during the 2-1 UEFA Super Cup win over Aston Villa, with new signing Akliouche handed a starting role.
PSG have also brought in Ferran Torres from Barcelona for a reported €50 million, giving Luis Enrique even more attacking options.
The PSG boss previously suggested that unhappy players could be allowed to leave, saying: “when a player doesn’t have a smile when coming here, it’s better to look for another solution.”
Luis Enrique has also praised Barcola in the past, describing him as “unstoppable.”
Liverpool must push, but stay sensible
These developments could give Liverpool a stronger negotiating position. PSG now have Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, Akliouche, Torres and Godts competing for attacking positions, making Barcola’s huge valuation increasingly difficult to justify if his playing time decreases.
For Liverpool, Barcola would be an exciting addition. His pace, direct running and ability in one-on-one situations would add another dimension to Andoni Iraola’s attack, while his age gives him plenty of room to develop.
However, £145 million remains an enormous price tag. Liverpool should make another serious attempt, but they must avoid overpaying.
With PSG’s attacking depth increasing, the Reds may now have a better chance of negotiating a more reasonable fee. 🔴🔥
