Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank praised Sunderland’s midfield after a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Frank highlighted Sunderland’s midfield leader, saying he “controlled the game from beginning to end,” acknowledging the visitors’ authority during key spells despite the stalemate.
The high-tempo clash featured fierce battles in midfield, with Sunderland showing the composure and quality to trouble Spurs on their own ground, something Frank admitted impressed him.
“It was a very intense game,” Frank said.
“Sunderland set the rhythm through midfield, and we had to battle all the way to keep up with them.”
While both teams will rue missed chances, the performance underlined Sunderland’s growing midfield presence and influence in the league.
