Liverpool are reportedly considering a surprise move for a highly-rated Manchester City academy talent as they continue their strategy of recruiting promising young players from rival clubs.
The Reds have built a strong reputation in recent years for signing top youth prospects from across England, with players such as Harvey Elliott, Ben Gannon-Doak, Trey Nyoni, and Rio Ngumoha highlighting that approach.
According to reports from Liverpool academy journalist Lewis Bower on X, the club are admirers of Manchester City youth midfielder Xavier Parker and have been closely tracking his development. He also suggests that a move is “possible” and could eventually materialize, with some reshuffling expected across the academies of Liverpool and both Manchester clubs.
Manchester City describe Parker, who recently turned 16, as a dynamic, attack-minded midfielder who joined from West Ham’s academy in 2024 and is expected to contribute goals from midfield. Talent scout Jacek Kulig has praised his technical ability, close control, movement, bravery, first touch, athleticism, and agility, while journalist Bence Bocsak has highlighted his ball-carrying ability, link-up play, and versatility across midfield and attack.
Given Liverpool’s recent focus on recruiting elite teenage prospects from UK academies, a move for the young Londoner would fit their long-term recruitment strategy, especially as they continue targeting high-potential players under 18.
For now, the interest appears to be exploratory rather than concrete, but it is a development worth monitoring as the transfer window progresses.
